China appears to be back in business. They were able to enforce an effective isolation and containment effort. Now they seem to be in control of new infections. All because of the NEW NORMAL. Life in china is different now then it was two months ago. While Europe is locked down and paralyzed, The USA is in panic mode and just beginning the crisis. China in the process of getting back up after the initial knock down. Whats more, they have done so without devastating financial cost to themselves. One must only look at the insane spending going on elsewhere. Governments are handing out cash like they don’t have to repay it later, thereby creating a completely new crisis which will follow the corona crisis.

Sitting back and having daily contact with three continents one thing becomes strikingly clear: Cultural differences have different advantages and disadvantages in this crisis. China has a head start on the new global economy. It remains to be seen if they can take advantage of it. What the Chinese have done seems to be almost impossible to replicate in any other country. In Europe, idiots can’t be bothered by social distancing rules. In the USA ignorant people have the if its not big enough so that i can shoot it … it can’t harm me attitude. while having mass gatherings at the beach. I guess it will later be called evolution.

This is not a financial crises until we make one. This is a horizontal shift of the economy. A Temporary crisis, if a treatment can quickly be found. A Permanent one if it takes too long. The danger of course is the man made economic crisis. If the situation escalates to the point where life preserving resources have become scarce due to a mass infection then we are reaching the point of no return and the coronawars become frightening possibility. Be it local. International or global.

Maybe, this is just the beginning of new kinds of diseases showing up on our doorsteps or maybe it is that our doorsteps are showing up where new diseases are. After all with the exponentially growing world pollution it is no wonder that we are encroaching on the territories of new diseases or consume food that was never meant for consumption by humans. Maybe one day in the future we look back and long for the tame days of the corona crisis.

Are we learning anything? We are in this crisis because of greed. Personal monetary greed of expanding profits. Greed for power. Never to admit a mistake and blaming others. We could have invested in a medical infrastructure that could handle the 5% of infected needing intensive medical care. We could have build extra capacity instead of the just-in-time inventory of medical facilities. We could have not allowed leaders to hide mistakes and lie to us so that they can hold on to power.

The coronavirus is not going to kill the human population. I am scared stupid by what human reaction to this crisis will do to all of us. Please take care of the less fortunate and elderly in your community.
